Norpoint Shooting Safety Rules
Please note that this list is not exhaustive – always verify an activity with a range officer before undertaking the activity:
- Always obey the instructions of the range officer. The range officer has the right to ask anyone to leave the range.
- Only firearms that are safe and in good working order will be permitted on the range.
- All firearms brought to the range must be either unloaded and in a proper case that prevents accidental access to the trigger, or in a proper holster that prevents accidental access to the trigger and keeps the muzzle from directly pointing at others.
- Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult. The parent/adult shall act as coach and must remain with the minor at all times on the range.
- No smoking, eating, or drinking is allowed on the range.
- Only standard commercially available ammunition is allowed on the range. No metal penetrating rounds, steel shot, BB’s, tracer, incendiary, gas, steel core, or explosive ammunition is allowed. High power centerfire rifle rounds may not be used (please check with the range officer to see if your ammunition is permitted).
- Only one shooter, one coach and one gun, in use, are permitted per lane.
Controlled rapid fire is permitted at the discretion of the range officer, however all rounds must be on target displaying an acceptable degree of accuracy and skill or the range officer may ask the shooter to slow fire or cease fire completely. On particular days, where there are classes in session for new shooters or youth events, rapid fire may be prohibited at the discretion of the range officer.
- All rounds must impact the bullet trap. No rounds may hit the floor, ceiling, the target retrieval system or other shooter’s targets. Any damage to the range or its equipment will result in a fine ($50.00 for accidental and $500.00 for intentional damage) and possibly reported to the appropriate authorities.
- Norpoint Shooting Center and/or its staff take no responsibility for items that are left unattended or that are stolen.
- No persons are allowed forward of the firing line, engaging in quick draws, hip shooting, moving while shooting, or multiple target shooting unless there is a range safety officer present and the activity is expressly authorized by Norpoint Shooting Center.
- Do not remove a malfunctioning firearm from the range. Immediately contact a range officer if your firearm is malfunctioning.
- If a range officer calls for cease fire, the shooter will immediately cease fire, and place the firearm on the bench, with muzzles pointed downrange, and await further commands from the range officer.
- All persons entered the firing bays must be wearing appropriate eye and ear protection prior to entering.
